IF I USE A VIDEO ON MY BLOG
1. THE ARTIST GETS THE CREDIT
YouTube’s servers are smart. Even though the video is sitting on my blog, all the credit goes to the original artist.
The View Count: Every time you hit play, the view count goes up on the artist's YouTube channel.
The Algorithm: High engagement on embedded sites like this one tells YouTube's algorithm, "Hey, people are talking about this singer on other websites!" This can actually make YouTube recommend their video to more people.
2. THE ARTIST KEEPS THE REVENUE
I am not "stealing" the artists ad money. Because the video is still being served by YouTube:
If the artist has ads enabled, those ads will still play on my blog.
All the money from those ads goes directly to the original artist (or their label/distributor).
I do not receive any of the ad revenue from their video just by embedding it.
3. COPYRIGHT IS BUILT-IN
YouTube has a system called Content ID. If an artist doesn't want their video shared on other sites, they have the option to "Disable Embedding" in their settings.
